The W.A.V.E. Awards will be held in Ventura, CA on October 26. I'll let you know which awards we take home next month!!
Many of you know that the main focus of my community service efforts are focused on two organizations: The YMCA of San Benito County and the Culinary and Hospitality Foundation of San Benito County.
These Kids Have Soul!
Kristie Melton, 12, of Hollister, CA is the first child to be accepted in my "These Kids Have Soul" mentorship program. Kristie spends time in the studio each month learning about both the creative and business side of art. Kristie is a talented and hard-working individual. We are having fun and I think I am learning as much from her as she is from me! This mentorship program was inspired by Alma Nino and Mike Howard of the Culinary and Hospitality Foundation of San Benito County.
YMCA Pacific Brass Benefit Concert
The Pacific Brass will present a benefit concert for the YMCA on Sunday, November 4 at 2:00 at the First Presbyterian Church, 2066 Cienega Road (San Benito Street extension) in Hollister. Proceeds from the event will go to the San Benito County YMCA's youth and family programs. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students, and are available at the YMCA, Ace Hardware, and at the door.
The Pacific Brass is made up of musicians from San Benito, Monterey, Santa Cruz, and Santa Clara counties. Their repertoire consists of traditional brass band and symphonic music as well as American folk songs, rags, marches, and selections from musical theater.
